I managed to take a trip to London’s Picadilly theatre and witnessed an amazing production in May 2010. It was a fantastic show and one of the best I have ever seen, in a word, it was electrifying…
So whatever happened to the beautiful heroine that we adore so much. The sassy Aussie who inspired so many of us towards a positive attitude of “anyone can change and have as they wish” . It may surprise many of you that “Sandy” or, officially, Olivia Newton John was actually British, born in Cambridge, way back in 1948.
She was the daughter of professor Brian Newton-John and his wife Irene, who was the daughter of one time Nobel Prize winning physicist, Max Born. Olivia decided to move to Melbourne with her family when she was just four and a half years old. By the time she hit fifteen years old, she had put together an all girl pop band named Sol Four. Soon after that, she came first in a popular talent show on TV called “Sing, Sing, Sing,” The prize was a vacation in London, England. In 63 Olivia appeared on local television and regular music shows in Australia. She then produced her first ever track for Decca Records, three years later in 66 which was a version of the Jackie DeShannon’s song Till You Say You’ll Be Mine. Four years later she produced a remake of Bob Dylan’s “If Not For You,” co-produced by record producer John Farrar, whom she still works with.
